Mitsui Sumitomo at Lloyd’s has confirmed it is to establish branches in Dublin and Belfast as part of its expansion plans.

As revealed by Post Europe the new operation will be headed by Alan Shiel as managing director, Ireland, previously Ireland country manager at Chubb.

Joining him from Chubb are Cormac McNamara, who has been appointed as underwriting manager (Ireland), Greg Wilde, who will underwrite business in Northern Ireland and Scotland and David Jenkins, who joins as claims and risk engineering manager.

This initiative follows the recent recruitment of Mick Turvey as Northern UK regional manager based in Manchester and is part of Mitsui Sumitomo's on-going development of a mid-market presence.
